RFID is an abbreviation standing for the Radio Frequency Identification. It is a contactless identification of items serving to transfer and to save the data using electromagnetic waves. This technology finds its use particularly in the manufacturing, trading and logistics sectors as completion or full replacement of the bar codes system. For this purpose, the rules governing the use of RFID to ensure uniform conditions for the global expansion of this technology are gradually standardized.
The chip (tag) located on the carrier (plastic plate, self-adhesive label, etc.) contains the exciting and broadcast antenna that communicates with the reader. The reader via its antenna provides communication with chips and reads the EPC code being stored. The EPC code (Electronic Product Code) uniquely identifies the given chip. Under a chip, we can imagine some product, transport packaging, semi-finished product in stock, etc. The software (middleware) equipment delivers the data to the information system. The reader device may have a fixed form of the RFID port or a mobile form of the portable data terminal / scanner.
Receipts in stock using RFID allows for immediate identification of the consignment and its comparison with orders - all is done without need of opening individual boxes.
